Darien National 9/10 Wins Stamford Invitational

The team capped a dominating tournament run with a 6-0 win.

The Darien National 9/10 district team won a resounding victory Sunday over Norwalk to become champions of the Stamford American Little League Invitational Tournament.

Anchored by strong pitching from Harry Rayhill and Will Enzor, Darien National shut out the opposition, 6-0, to cap a dominating tournament run at Vine Road Field.

The competition consisted of 10 teams from around Fairfield Country, which were broken down into two pools. To reach the final, the Darien National went a clean 4-0 in round robin play, followed by a 11-3 win over the Darien Wave Friendship team in the quaterfinals and a 9-2 victory over Ridgefield in the semifinals.

Second baseman Henry Adiletta, first baseman Justin Jordan, and catcher Nick Conte also contributed strong fielding performances Sunday on their way to winning the crown.

At the plate, Jordan racked up three hits, while Alex Cohen hit a long double. Nick Green and Harry Rayhill knocked in two runs apiece during the game.

"The successful tournament play by Darien National 9/10 was a complete team effort as every player contributed," manager Mark Adiletta told Patch.

Adiletta highlighted other standout performances from the tournament, including clutch hitting by Ethan Ehlers and Peter Guttuso, strong bunting and base running by Alex Dehmel, impressive pitching from Max Gasvoda, and "gritty play" behind the plate from Will Culliton.

Team members Kyle Fisher, Ollie Steeves, and Chris Davey played in the tournament but were unable to make the final, Adiletta said.
