Darien Police Officer Promoted To Sergeant

The promotion is effective on Aug. 3, according to Darien Police Chief Jeremiah P. Marron Jr.

DARIEN, CT — The Darien Police Department on Wednesday announced the promotion of police officer Michal Dos Santos to the rank of sergeant.

In a posting from DPD Chief Jeremiah P. Marron Jr., Dos Santos's promotion is effective on Aug. 3.

A 13-year veteran of the department, Dos Santos currently works in the Records Division. Before coming to Darien, he worked for several years with the Bridgeport Police Department.

Along with serving in the DPD Records Division, Dos Santos is a member of the Honor Guard, the Accident Investigation Team, and the Marine Division, according to Marron.

"Congratulations to Sgt. Dos Santos and we commend him for a job well done and wish him the best of luck in a new role within our agency," Marron said. "Although he will be difficult to replace in his current role, we have every bit of confidence in Sgt. Dos Santos’ ability to hold a supervisory position and carry it out at a high level!"

Marron thanked other candidates for participating in the promotional process.

"I of course would also like to congratulate all of the candidates in this promotional process as they clearly put in a lot of hard work and are sure to continue to have promising careers within our agency. You all should be proud of your efforts and I thank you for that," he said.

Dos Santos was sworn in on Wednesday by Darien Police Commissioner Kevin Cunningham. A formal promotional ceremony will be held at a later date, according to Marron.
