Darien Selectmen To Discuss Great Island In Upcoming Meeting

DARIEN, CT — Great Island will have its own section on the upcoming Board of Selectmen meeting agenda.

The board is set to delve into all things Great Island on Aug. 18. The regularly-scheduled meeting is virtual only and set to begin at 7 p.m.

According to the agenda, Great Island topics include:

• Discuss and Take Action to Accept the Great Island Master Plan
• Discuss Great Island Building Committee
• Discuss Great Island Event Policy
• Discuss Proposal for Design and Other Professional Services by Reed Hilderbrand for the Next Phase on Great Island

The Great Island Advisory Committee has finished its work and it's now up to the selectmen to finalize the next steps and present a near-term plan for the property to the Board of Finance and Representative Town Meeting for consideration and appropriation, First Selectman Jon Zagrodzky said in his recent newsletter to the community.

Zagrodzky said for now, Great Island will be a standing agenda item for BoS meetings.

He noted that he will work on communication regarding Great Island, which will include speeches, videos and public engagement.
