Democrats understand the importance of financial responsibility
To the Editor:
John Lundeen and his fellow candidates for selectmen, David Bayne and Vickie Riccardo, have my complete support. They are astute individuals who understand the importance of financial responsibility as they move to reinstate sensible planning with the goal of assuring that our town is positioned to move forward in the face of challenges.

John Lundeen’s experience as a budget examiner in both the Carter and Regan administrations provides him the skills Darien needs for the budget analysis and control necessary to preserving essential services without growing government costs.
These are individuals who understand so very well the importance of approaching issues in a responsible manner and will place fiscally responsibility high on a list as it relates to implementing solutions to matters confronting our town. Lundeen, Bayne, and Riccardo understand this formula for moving forward.

Republican selectmen have tackled important issues
To the Editor:
We need to reelect the incumbent Republican majority on the Board of Selectmen. They have tackled important issues for Darien over the past two years.
Now, we are faced with how best to use three facilities: the old library, the and . Most residents don’t realize that roughly 15 percent of Town Hall has been underutilized since it was a school more than 25 years ago. No administration until now has addressed the issue.
This team has a plan to efficiently utilize 100 percent of Town Hall and the old library, leaving us the opportunity to use the current senior center site for other purposes. The proposal would reduce town building usage from three to two locations, an obvious long-term fiscal benefit for taxpayers. Importantly, opponents of this plan have not offered any alternatives.
I urge interested voters, and especially RTM members, to take advantage of the upcoming opportunity to tour Town Hall and the Senior Center. See for yourself what is planned and why. Then, I am confident you will support the proposed facilities move and will understand why we should reelect the very experienced team led by Jayme Stevenson.
