Fire Log: Burning Oil Touches Off Kitchen Blaze
Firefighters also responded to a burst of four traffic accidents Sunday.

Wednesday, June 16
GAS ODOR: Around 9:54 a.m., Noroton Heights Fire responded to a service call at 22R Greenwood Avenue regarding an odor of gas. The cause was traced to a stove that had been left on at the residence.

KITCHEN FIRE: A report of a small kitchen blaze brought Noroton Heights Fire to 245 Noroton Ave around 3:47 p.m. By the time firefighters arrived, the owner had managed to extinguish the flames. An official said the blaze was cause by oil that caught fire in a frying pan. Some burns to the cabinets above the stove and smoke damage to the house was reported.

SMOKE SCARE: The Darien Fire Department, the Noroton Fire Department, and Noroton Heights Fire responded to a report of a smoke scare at 140 Raymond St around 2:35 p.m. Information on the cause was not immediately available.

REPORTED VEHICLE FIRE: The Darien Fire Department went to the scene of a reported vehicle fire on I-95 South around 6:03 a.m., but firefighters determined the call to be unfounded.
Sunday, June 20
MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENTS: Noroton Heights Fire responded to four motor vehicle accidents/injuries on Sunday: one at 2:42 p.m. on I-95 north near exit 11, one at 3:27 p.m. on I-95 north between exits 9 and 10, one at 11:42 p.m. at the intersection of Hoyt Street and Heather Lane, and one at 11:57 p.m. in front of 564 Hoyt Street. The Darien Fire Department also responded to the first of the four calls.
