ICYMI: Darien High School Ranked No. 4 in CT by Website
ICYMI (in case you missed it): The high school would have ranked higher, but it only got a "C+" for "student culture & diversity."

Editor’s note: This article originally was published on Thursday. We’re republishing it here in case you missed it:
Darien High School was ranked the fourth-best public high school in the state in a study published by Niche.com, a website that ranks schools across the nation.
Coming in ahead of Darien was Weston High School (No. 1), New Canaan (No. 2) and Staples High School in Westport (No. 3). Rankings of other schools in the area: Ridgefield (No. 6), Wilton (No. 7) and Greenwich (No. 8).

The study graded and ranked schools after looking into these factors: academics, health and safety, teachers (for all three of which, Darien received an “A+” grade), extra curricular activities, sports and fitness (for these, Darien received a grade of “A”), resources and facilities (“A-”), a parent/student survey (Darien scored 4.1 out of a possible 5.0), and “student culture & diversity” in which Darien bombed with a ”C-”.
Niche says the ”student culture & diversity” factor “incorporates statistics and student, alumni, and parent surveys regarding student culture and diversity at the school.”

The study ranked 100 high schools in Connecticut and many more elsewhere. Among the high schools that the website ranked the 100 best in the country were Weston (No. 84), New Canaan (No. 85) and Westport (No. 94), the only schools from Connecticut on that list.
Correction: An earlier version of this article stated that only Weston and New Canaan appeared on the top-100 rankings. Not so. Westport was there at No. 94.
