Man Charged In 2022 High-Speed Crash Of Stolen Vehicle: Darien Police
Police said they found a loaded magazine from a pistol at the scene. A 36-year-old man was arrested on July 23.

DARIEN, CT — Darien police say they have charged on a man in connection with a 2022 high-speed crash of a stolen vehicle in which a loaded magazine from a pistol was found.
Edwy Medrano, of Waterbury, was charged with criminal possession of a firearm/ammunition/electronic defense weapon, and second-degree larceny, his arrest report says.
On May 26, 2022, at approximately 3:20 a.m., Darien police officers responded to a high-speed crash in town involving a vehicle that had been reported stolen out of Meriden the day prior, police said.

"The vehicle was found abandoned with blood evidence and a loaded 9mm Sig Sauer magazine on the driver's side floorboard," police noted. "A K9 unit initiated a track but was unable to locate the suspect."
Officers collected evidence from the scene, including blood swabs, a baseball hat and an abandoned cellphone, which led to the identification of Medrano as a suspect, according to police, and an arrest warrant was applied for and granted by Stamford Superior Court.

Medrano was charged on July 23. He was unable to post a $100,000 bond, and was turned over to the custody of state marshals to be arraigned, police said. He's scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Aug. 6, his arrest report says.
