The Darien High School Athletic Department announced the hiring of a new head coach on Friday.

DARIEN, CT — The Darien High School Athletic Department announced that Andy Grant has been named as the Blue Wave's new head football coach.

Grant spent the last 12 seasons serving as the Blue Wave's secondary coach, while also coaching at the youth level for the Darien Junior Football League, the athletic department said.

Grant played collegiately for Sacred Heart University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice and a master's in teaching. He currently serves as the director of sales and marketing for VOGO NA.

"Coach Grant impressed the interview committee with not only a strong knowledge of the game of football, but, more importantly, a deep regard for the well-being of each member of the football program," said the DHS Athletic Department in a tweet on Friday.

The head coach position opened up last December when Mike Forget resigned after two years at the helm.
