New Restaurant Pitched For Former Bank Site In Darien

Plans for the restaurant include a drive-thru and an outdoor patio.

DARIEN, CT — A developer is seeking approval from the Planning and Zoning Commission to turn the HSBC Bank site at 151 Boston Post Road into Darien Hot Chicken, according to June meeting minutes.

No vote has been taken on the application, which remains pending. The proposal calls for establishing a new 3,500-square-foot quick-serve eatery with a drive-thru. Improvements to the property are to include a new 16-seat outdoor patio for seasonal dining, a reconfigured 30-space parking lot, and drive-thru facilities, according to meeting minutes.

Zoning commissioners had previously expressed some concern over the "hours of operation; eight foot high maximum fence in the back of the property; Dumpster enclosure; garbage collection/pickup times (limiting to after 7am but not between 11am and 1 p.m.); and delivery vehicle parking," meeting minutes state.
