Saturday is Free Fishing Day in Connecticut
On Oct. 8, no license is required to drop in a line statewide.

The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection is encouraging families and friends to take advantage of Free Fishing Day, when no license is required to fish.
Trout will have just been stocked in a number of the state's fishing areas, giving anglers a great incentive to drop in a line.
Through mid-October, DEEP will release nearly 30,000 trophy and adult-sized trout into selected waters throughout the state. Among the areas stocked this fall are 21 lakes and ponds, 18 rivers and streams — including 13 of the Trout Management Areas — and seven Trout Parks. DEEP will also be stocking 33,000 yearling trout into selected waters throughout the state.
