Popular NYC-Based Seafood Restaurant To Open Location In Darien

This will be the eighth location overall for the restaurant group, and the first in Connecticut.

DARIEN, CT — Seamore's, the sustainable seafood restaurant group based in New York City, will open its first Connecticut location this week in Darien.

This will be the eighth location overall for Seamore's, which also has locations in Manhattan and Brooklyn, N.Y., and Arlington, Va.

"We're really excited," said owner Jay Wainwright, who hopes to open June 9. "We're a small company and this is our first step into the Connecticut area. It feels like a perfect fit from a community perspective, and from our ability to source local seafood in Connecticut."

Located within Darien Commons at 110 Heights Road across from the Noroton Heights Train Station, the 3,400-square foot restaurant has room for about 140 seats inside, to go along with an expansive bar, and an outdoor patio that fits an extra 40 seats.

"First and foremost, Seamore's is all about beachy vibes, and tasty, really delicious food, and good service," Wainwright said, noting the interior's nautical theme. Seamore's can be a place for a fun night out, or a meal with family members of all ages.

"Underlying all of that is a passion for ocean health and seafood sustainability. We take our supply chain really seriously and only sell fish from stocks that are stable and growing, and we only sell fish that people can be really proud to eat," Wainwright added.

A cornerstone of the menu is "The Reel Deel," which features a choice of simply grilled fish served over a choice of seasonably changing vegetable side dishes and sauces.

Other menu highlights include a raw bar, crispy rice with ginger salmon or spicy tuna, and starters like firecracker cauliflower and tuna poke, among other options.

Main menu options include fish tacos, which Wainwright said are well-known in NYC, fish and chips, lobster mac and cheese, a Maine lobster roll, red curry mussels and fries, and a scallop and sun-dried tomato pasta that's exclusive to Darien, and more.

There will be clams and oysters from Connecticut, too. The brand’s signature "Daily Landings" wall indicates which fish is available each day.

But the menu isn't all seafood. There's a smash burger, steak frites, chicken, and a variety of salads.

Seamore’s also offers a special "For the Guppies" kid’s menu, so there's something for everyone.

At the helm of the kitchen is Executive Chef Shannon Sturz. Sturz grew up in the area and was previously the sous chef at The Inn at Pound Ridge by Jean-Georges.

Francisco Barboza serves as general manager. Prior to Seamore's, Barboza held management roles at Z Hospitality Group restaurants like East End.

The cocktail menu includes Seamore's signature cucumber martini, a watermelon basil spritz, and more. There is a wine list, and a beer list as well, which will have offerings from CT's Two Roads Brewery.

The restaurant will be open for dinner Wednesday through Sunday and will expand to offer dinner every night plus lunch and brunch this summer. Happy hour is offered weekdays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. with half-price oysters and beer/wine/cocktails between $5 to $9.

Reservations can be made on Resy. For more information, visit Seamore's website or follow them on Instagram at @seamores.
