The Stanley Cup Is Coming To Darien
Darien native and 2024 Stanley Cup champion, Spencer Knight, is bringing the cup to town for a special meet-and-greet.

DARIEN, CT — Hockey fans will get a glimpse of glory this weekend in Darien as the Stanley Cup is coming to town.
Spencer Knight, a Darien native and goaltender within the Florida Panthers organization, is bringing the iconic trophy to Weed Beach for a meet-and-greet at 9 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 8
The Darien Athletic Foundation and the town announced the special appearance this week. Fans will have a chance to see the Stanley Cup up close, meet Knight, and pose for a quick photo.

Knight, 23, was raised in Darien and attended Darien High School from 2015 to 2016, Avon Old Farms to 2017, and later Plymouth High School in Canton, Mich. He then attended Boston College where he led the Eagles to the 2020-2021 Hockey East regular season title.
Drafted 13th overall by the Panthers in the 2019 NHL draft, Knight compiled 19 wins in the 2021-2022 season to set a record for most victories by a Panthers rookie goalie.

Knight appeared in 21 games the following season, and spent part of that year and all of the 2023-2024 season with the Charlotte Checkers, the Panthers' minor league affiliate.
However, Knight was in uniform for the Stanley Cup Final as the third goalie on the roster. He hoisted the Stanley Cup after the Panthers defeated the Edmonton Oilers 2-1 in game seven on June 24.
