DARIEN, CT — Suspected thieves spotted at a Darien restaurant over the weekend didn't appear to be after cash, but rather valuable cooking oil, according to police.

On July 26, Darien police officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the rear parking lot of Post Corner Pizza in the 800 block of the Post Road, police said in this week's crime summary update.

"Surveillance footage revealed two suspects in a white van with New Jersey plates siphoning cooking oil from the restaurant's storage container before fleeing the scene," police said. The incident occurred shortly before 11 a.m.
