Victim Says Check Forged, Written For 'Much Larger Amount': Darien PD

One person has been charged, and he was released after posting a $150,000 bond, police said.

DARIEN, CT — Robinson Cabrera-Liriano, 40, of the Bronx, NY, is facing larceny and forgery charges and was released after posting a $150,000 bond, Darien police said.

Police said detectives recently responded to Rikers Island to take custody of Cabrera-Liriano on an active arrest warrant. The warrant stems from an incident that occurred in 2022, police said.

"On 11/30/22, the victim reported one of his checks was forged and written for a much larger amount and the check was made payable to “R. Cabrera Liriano,” police said in a news release. "The victim said he dropped his original check off at the USPS box on Heights Rd."

Police said that a detective was aware of another victim whose check was forged to the same name. Search warrants were served for bank records and video surveillance from where the checks were deposited and for ATM withdrawals, police said.

reveal Zelle transfers were made from Cabrera-Liriano’s account to his girlfriend’s account, police said.

An arrest warrant was approved for Cabrera-Liriano, and he is charged with third-degree forgery and conspiracy to commit third-degree forgery and conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny.
