Water Main Break Wednesday on Noroton Ave Near Middlesex Rd
A small portion of a 12-inch wide water main pipe was replaced Wednesday on Noroton Avenue just south of Middlesex Road.

Replacing a section of a 12-inch water main pipe that broke Wednesday morning on Noroton Avenue just south of its intersection with Middlesex Road should be complete in about two hours, workers at the site said.
That could mean that by the end of the school day at nearby Darien High School, the work will be done.

The southbound traffic lane on Noroton Avenue was blocked by a line of construction vehicles at about 11:20 a.m. Wednesday, as the new section of pipe was being lowered into a hole in the roadway at least five feet deep. Police were directing traffic on the one lane of the road still open.

A water main break on Noroton Avenue near Middlesex Road is expected to operate with only one lane open this morning after a water main break at about 7 a.m. Wednesday.
Department of Public Works crews have brought sand and salt to the area, Darien police said. Traffic initially was diverted to Edgerton Street, and extra police officers are on the scene, police said.
