1 Killed In 3-Vehicle Crash In Durham: State Police
One driver was killed in a head-on crash that also sent two other drivers to the hospital, according to Connecticut State Police.

DURHAM, CT — A Hamden man was killed in a three-vehicle crash Thursday in Durham, according to Connecticut State Police.
The crash happened around 4:45 p.m. on Route 17 in Durham.
Police said the driver of a 2017 Nissan Altima was traveling south on Route 17 past Dinatale Drive in Durham, while the driver of a 2006 GMC Sierra was behind the Nissan also heading south.

Steven Jefferson, 34, of Hamden, was driving a 2018 Toyota Camry in the northbound lane on Route 17 near Indian Lane when it crossed over the center median line “for an unknown reason” into the southbound lane and crashed head-on into the Nissan, according to police.
The Nissan spun out in the southbound lane and was then struck by the GMC, police said.

Jefferson was found unresponsive inside the Camry, according to police. He was taken to Middlesex Hospital, where he was pronounced dead around 5:30 p.m., police said.
The driver of the Nissan, a 60-year-old East Haven woman, was hospitalized with injuries that weren’t life-threatening, according to police.
The driver of the GMC, an 18-year-old Cromwell man, was also taken to the hospital with possible minor injuries, police said.
Police are investigating the crash and any witnesses, or anyone with dashcam footage, is asked to contact 860-399-2100.
