670 Without Power in Middlefield After Hurricane Sandy
Cleanup from the storm continues as CL&P crews work to restore power to hundreds of customers. Water and MREs will be made available this afternoon at the Middlefield Firehouse.
Despite having escaped the worst of Hurricane Sandy, about 30 percent of Middlefield remained without power as of mid-Tuesday morning.
According to Connecticut Light and Power's outage map, 670 customers were without electricty at 10 a.m.

At this point, the town does not plan to open an emergency shelter at Memorial School but MREs and water will be delivered to the Middlefield Firehouse shortly.
According to Middlefield Emergency Management Director Brian Dumas several trees have been knocked down along Power Hill Road. There are no estimates when power will be restored.

A decision on whether schools will be open will be made later Tuesday when the condition of the town's roads can be accessed, according to Superintendent Susan Viccaro.
A regional emergency shelter is available to residents at Haddam Killingworth Middle School.
