2. School Starts Late Reminder All schools in Region 13 are on a 2-hour delayed opening today for professional development for teachers.

3. Middlefield Resident to be Honored Lindsay Parke of Middlefield will be one of five honorees at Operation Fuel’s 35th anniversary reception on Oct. 19. Parke, who works for Connecticut Light & Power and Yankee Gas, served on Operation Fuel’s board of directors for six years, and is being recognized for her support of Operation Fuel over the past several years.

Operation Fuel is a private, nonprofit statewide program that has provided emergency energy assistance throughout Connecticut for the past 35 years to lower-income working families, the elderly and disabled individuals who are in financial crisis and not eligible for energy assistance from government-funded programs.

4. Audobon Society at the Church of The Epiphany The Wadsworth Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution welcome Cynthia Bartholemew of the Audubon Society in Glastonbury to Durham this evening. Cynthia will speak about Connecticut native birds at 6:30 p.m.
