Daily Five: School Budget, Community Garden and Windy Weather

Five things to know for Wednesday, January 30, 2013.

 

1. What's the Weather? A chance of showers, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 3 p.m. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 51. South wind 5 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph. Tonight: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Low around 45. Windy, with a south wind 16 to 21 mph increasing to 27 to 32 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 55 mph.

2. Budget Focus of BOE Retreat The District 13 Board of Education will meet Thursday night from 5-9 p.m. to discuss a variety of issues, most of which will have an impact on the upcoming school budget. The agenda, which includes public comment, can be found here.

3. Are You Interested in a Community Garden? It's never too early to start thinking about gardening, right? With that in mind, Durham's Agriculture Commission is wondering who's interested in participating in a community garden.

4. Paranormal Investigator Comes to the Durham Public Library Meet author, Medium, Paranormal Investigator Sydney Sherman on Feb. 7th @ 7pm!
