“Based on recent world events and circumstances outside of our control, the administration at Coginchaug Regional High School has made the decision to reschedule the senior class trip to Washington, D.C.
This morning, Mr. Gustafson and I held a meeting with the senior class to share and discuss the rationale behind our decision. The rescheduling of the trip clearly aligns with our commitment to the safety and well-being of our students and faculty.
These are unprecedented times and we will continue to work with and support your children.
Thank you for your understanding, support and patience. We will share details concerning the logistics of rescheduling the trip as they become available.
Please know that we are already working toward that end. If you have any questions please feel free to contact the school at (860) 349-7215.

In a letter sent to parents, Timothy Edwards Middle School Principal Nancy Larson wrote that “in light of the threat falling on the heels of Friday’s attacks in Paris, we must take every precaution possible” and canceled the trip, according to Fox61.
Larson said “as always the safety of your child is our number one concern” and the possibility of rescheduling the trip is being researched.
