K-9 Breezy Helps Sniff Out Drug Bust, 2 Arrested In Middlefield: State Police

Police said K-9 Breezy helped sniff out a drug bust after state troopers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle.

MIDDLEFIELD, CT — A Meriden man and a Wallingford man were arrested after a K-9 helped sniff out a drug bust Monday in Middlefield, according to Connecticut State Police.

Troopers from Troop F in Westbrook responded to Route 66 in Middlefield on the report of a suspicious vehicle, according to police.

“After speaking with the operator and passenger of the vehicle, several indicators of narcotic use were present,” police wrote in a news release. “Based on Troopers suspicion of the presence of narcotics, State Police K-9 Breezy, trained in narcotics detection, was requested to the scene.”

K-9 Breezy conducted a “free air sniff” of the vehicle, where she alerted to the odor of narcotics coming from within the vehicle, according to police.

Police said a search of the vehicle revealed the following:

  • 52 bags of a white powdery substance, believed to be cocaine, weighing 83 grams
  • Six unknown pills
  • Several items of narcotics paraphernalia
  • $2,442 in cash

Both occupants were arrested without incident, according to police.

Jameson Beardsley, 38, of Meriden, was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, use of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled substance. He was released after posting a $15,000 bond with a court date of July 14.

John Arnold, 27, of Wallingford, was charged with use of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance. He was released after posting a $2,500 bond with a court date of July 14.
