Letter: Reader Impressed With Jon Brayshaw and Ed Bailey

David Glueck said he doesn't agree with the Republican Board of Selectmen on every issue, but he still supports them.

The following post is a letter to the editor submitted to Durham-Middlefield Patch. If you would like to submit an letter, please email ronald.derosa@patch.com. Or you can post your letter in our blogs section.

I am writing this letter in support of both Jon Brayshaw and Ed Bailey for the slate of Selectmen. I have been very impressed with the way that Jon and Ed have handled the town budget and kept a wary eye on our tax rates over the years. While I do not agree with them on every issue, I am firmly convinced that both of them have the town's best interests in mind.

It is true that both our Nation and our State are currently being sucked into a whirlpool of unsustainable debt, reckless spending, absence of accountability and an entitlement mentality that seeks to avoid personal responsibility at any cost. It is also true, unfortunately, that voter apathy and ignorance will one day mean that those waves will break one day on our very own shores.

But why hasten that day?

Please join me in voting for Jon Brayshaw and Ed Bailey so that we can continue to enjoy the peace and tranquility that can only come from obeying the basic laws of economics and fiscal responsibility which both the Founding Fathers of our Country and the Book of Proverbs clearly taught. I would also encourage my fellow residents to support the entire Republican slate which will give them the best chance of correctly guiding our little town through the treacherous waters which we now face.
