Letter to the Editor: Political Sign Vandalism "Vicious and Small-Minded"

Over the past few weeks several expensive 4'x 8' signs promoting presidential candidate Mitt Romney, privately purchased and erected on private property in Durham, have been systematically attacked and destroyed while the signs of democrat candidates across the street have gone untouched suggesting the acts were carried out by zealous supporters of the Democrat party's candidates. 

What are these people afraid of who behaved so wildly? Is it "choice"? Vladimir Putin would be proud! Such people are small-minded and vicious. They represent something very sad about our society. Zealots are what's required to fight a revolution. Zealots cannot tolerate rational criticism of their views as those views are central to whom they think they are.

Simple things like "choice" or differing views can be disposed of quickly if they don't agree with the world view they hold. Watch what happens when Obama loses - the level of hatred and histrionics will be epic.

Remember, this is who they are: Adult-children living in a fantasy world in which they and their ilk are like 'social justice super-heroes'. Accordingly, if you don't agree with them, you are rejected or attacked. Anything they do is justified in service to their cause.
