Letter to the Editor: Support Cindy Cartier

Durham resident says state Senate candidate can motivate businesses to expand and create quality jobs.

Last week, we learned that Connecticut’s jobs situation continues to erode; with our state’s unemployment rate approaching nine percent (9%) and worsening. Business leaders have publicly stated their reasons for fearing expansion in, or relocation to Connecticut; particularly its ever-changing regulations, increasing tax burdens and the inability of our government to live within its means.

We must chart a new course now, if we truly desire to bring quality jobs back to Connecticut.

Cindy Cartier, who is running for State Senator, can help drive this change. Cindy is energetic and intelligent. As a small business owner, Cindy knows first-hand what it takes to motivate businesses to expand and create quality jobs. Cindy has earned a degree in law; and so recognizes the importance of drafting common-sense legislation. Cindy has a long history of service to her community; as a Selectman of the Town of Guilford, member of its Board of Education and Chairman of its Planning and Zoning Commission.

And Cindy understands the demands being placed on Connecticut’s families. As the mother of two young children, Cindy and her husband know the importance of quality education; and the challenges of providing for their family in the face of ever-rising food, gasoline and heating oil costs.
