Middlefield Barber Moves to Main Street

Joe Fulmine recently relocated his barbershop from his home on Lake Beseck to 462 Main Street in Middlefield.

 

Joe Fulmine is back on Main Street.

The barber recently opened Joe's Cut and Style at 462 Main Street in Middlefield (next door to Gemini One Unisex Salon), moving from his in-home barbershop on Lake Beseck.

Fulmine has been cutting hair since the 1970s, including a four-year stint as a Navy barber on the U.S.S. John King.

"Dad was a barber. I come from a family of barbers. I've been doing this for 41 years. It all started there in Durham," he says.

For 52 years, Joe's father, Tony Fulmine, owned and operated Thee Razor's Edge of Durham, which was also located on Main Street.

As for his favorite part of the job, Joe says "the customers, chatting with them. You get a lot of stories and you get to know a lot of people. Pretty interesting, the stories you hear."
