A local man was arrested earlier this month after police say he was found sleeping at a traffic light along Route 66 in Middlefield. Brian J. Wheeler, 20, of Bailey Road in Middletown, was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol and improper parking on Feb. 8. Shortly after midnight, according to a report, police responded to the intersection of Route 66 and Jackson Hill Road for a driver asleep in a vehicle at the traffic light. Upon further investigation, police requested that Wheeler perform field sobriety tests, which he failed, the report says. Wheeler was released on $1,000 bond. He's due back in court Feb. 22.
