Recount Issued for Middlefield Board of Finance Race
Two candidates were within 11 votes of each other.

Per state law, there will be a recount of the Middlefield Board of Finance votes.
Town Clerk Donna Golub said no date has been set for a recount, however it has to happen by Nov. 12.
The official results are now posted on the Secretary of State's website and they show the following:
David J. Lowry (R): 924
Joel O. Nick (R): 780
Robert C. Yamartino (R): 926
Laura L. Williams (D): 769
Susan K. Heuberger (D): 737
Golub noted that, because Nick and Williams were within 11 votes of each other, state law requires a recount of the entire board.
There are currently two sitting Board of Finance members, one a Democrat a one an independent who caucuses with the Democrats, neither of whom were up for reelection this year.
This means that the recount could determine whether the board is split 3-3 or 4-2 with a majority being Democrats.
