Schools to Re-Open Wednesday

School officials announced today that schools in Durham and Middlefield will be open tomorrow as Connecticut Light and Power crews continue efforts to restore power to hundreds of customers in both towns.

 

There will be class on Wednesday for students in District 13.

School officials announced this afternoon that all schools in Durham and Middlefield will be open tomorrow despite cleanup efforts that continue in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

The storm knocked out power to hundreds of residents in both towns but the area escaped the worst of Sandy's wrath.

School officials waited to make the decision based on reports from the town's emergency management officials who needed time to assess whether all roads in town were passable.

School was closed on Monday and Tuesday but Robert Francis, District 13's Supervisor of Building and Grounds, said today that none of the schools suffered any damage from the storm and or lost power.
