Teacher Spotlight: Durham-Middlefield Educator Goes Above And Beyond

DURHAM-MIDDLEFIELD, CT — Great teachers matter. In Durham-Middlefield, Cassandra Bystrek is making a difference every day.

How do you know the teacher?

My daughter had her for 3rd grade

What does this person teach?

Third grade.

Why do you believe the teacher should be recognized or honored?

Mrs Bystrek went above and beyond for my child and their entire class, making them feel comfortable, seen and heard. She encouraged them and boosted their confidence- she got excited when they had wins, small or big and they noticed! She also supports her students outside of the normal school day, coming to see them in local plays even during her summer break!

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the teacher?

Mrs. Bystrek is the best! She is encouraging, builds core memories and sees all of her students for who they are. We are so thankful to have had her as our daughters teacher!
