Torrison Gets PZC Approval to Replace Ken Marino

Landscaping company will take over for long time used car dealership on Durham's Main Street.

Torrison Stone & Garden received approval last week to move its operations to 422 Main Street in Durham, a location currently occupied by Ken Marino Mercedes Benz.

The landscaping company presented a plan to the town's Planning and Zoning Commission during a public hearing on Oct. 3. The plan will allow Torrison to consolidate its operations currently located at 51 Industrial Park Access Road, Middlefield and 6 Main Street, Durham, to one location.

A fence will be installed around the property but otherwise the business will undergo no significant changes. Commission members were assured that Torrison's snow removal business would not disturb neighbors.

In an interview with Patch last month, Marino said he planned to retire from the auto business which he has operated since 1972.

"The town has been really good to me," Marino said. "If I had to do it over I wouldn't hesitate to come back."
