Tree Removal In Durham To Cause Road Detours
The detours are coming up later this month as the the town's contractor will remove several large trees.

DURHAM, CT — Road closures are coming up in Durham due to the removal of large trees near the intersection of Howd Road and Mauro Drive.
Josh Miller, the town's tree warden, issued the following statement:
The Town’s tree removal contractor is scheduled for large tree removals near the intersection of Howd Road and Mauro Drive. These large trees have sustained injuries from lightning strikes or are dead and are a hazard to traffic and users of the public property. At request of our contractor, Howd Road will be closed to thru traffic for the day of June 18, with a rain date of June 20, to complete this work. Road closures are only expected for one day of these two and will be inside the hours of 7 am - 5 pm. Please follow detours and be mindful of the workers’ safety on site. Local emergency services have been notified and our contractor will ensure there will be no disruption to emergency services.

Estimated detours for road closure are:
-7 am - noon: Howd Road closed at Mauro Drive. All residents west of Mauro Drive enter/exit via Whirlwind Hill Rd. All Mauro Dr residents enter/exit east towards Tri-Mountain Road.
-Afternoon: Howd Road closed between Mauro Dr and Tri-Mountain Road. All local traffic enter/exit west via Whirlwind Hill Road.
