East Haven Firefighters Wear "Red" On Friday To Honor Troops

"Every Friday will be Red (Remember Everyone Deployed) Shirt Friday and on duty crews will wear these shirts."

EAST HAVEN, CT - East Haven firefighters have joined in an effort across the country to support the troops by wearing red shirts on Friday and donating money to troops deployed.

Here is what the firefighters had to say on the department's Facebook page about the effort:

"In cooperation with Chief Marcarelli Local 1205 has joined the nationwide trend of firefighters supporting our troops.

"Every Friday will be Red (Remember Everyone Deployed) Shirt Friday and on duty crews will wear these shirts. Our members along with the members of the Chiefs office donated an extra $5 per shirt. We collected $625.

"At our recent union meeting the membership voted to donate an extra $375 to bring it to $1000. We will be donating $500 to the East Haven Vietnam Veterans #484 and $500 to the Harry Bartlett American Legion Post 89. We would like to thank our active and retired military members of our union for designing this shirt for us."
