Elderly Woman Thanks East Haven Firefighters For Clearing Snow
Fire chief received a letter praising two firefighters for helping an Edgehill Drive woman clean her driveway from snow after big storm
EAST HAVEN, CT - Even though it isn't in their job description, two East Haven firefighters recently took time to make sure a senior citizen who lives on Edgehill Drive wasn't stuck in her driveway after a recent snowstorm.
The woman, Alice DeCarlo, wrote a letter to Fire Chief Matt Marcarelli (see attached) thanking the two firefighters for rescuing her. The firefighters were Brian Wilonski and Brian Kollmer.
The letter says, in part:

"My name is Alice DeCarlo. I live on Edgehill Drive. I'm writing you this note to let you know that on March 8th, the day after the Nor'easter, I was down at the end of my driveway trying to chop some of the huge mess the town plow made when this red firetruck drove by and stopped.
"Two of your men got out of the truck ad cleaned the whole and even my mailbox. I could not thank them enough. I only wished that I had gotten their names. I do know that they are with Foxon Fire Station 3.

"If you do meet up with them please thank them again for me.
"It makes one feel good knowing that there are some and kind people out there.
"Again, thank you."
