'Hardworking' East Haven Mom Is 'My Biggest Supporter,' Daughter Says

EAST HAVEN, CT— Moms do so much for everyone around them. We try to celebrate them all year long, but Mother's Day is a perfect opportunity to shout it from the rooftops and post it on Patch: Mom rocks!

Here at Patch we've launched an initiative to help recognize the awesome moms and mom figures in communities like yours.

What makes your Mom extra special?

My mom is special because she is a hard-working and kind lady. I’d like to think she is my biggest supporter. She always has the best advice and I never have to be afraid to tell her anything. She always understands and is like my best friend.

Why do you feel your Mom deserves the spotlight?

I think my mother deserves the spotlight because of the fact that she always puts my sister and me before herself and makes sure we are okay and safe, she would do anything for us. My mother had me at a young age. In order to take care of me, she had to stop going to college. Which is an example of how she puts us before herself. As I said earlier, my mom is very hardworking. She pushes through everything no matter how tough it can be. A few years after having my sister, she decided to go back to school. She juggled taking care of us, school, studying, and tests. I couldn’t imagine how that was for her but I know it was not easy. She recently graduated in May of last year and now has an amazing job. Words couldn’t describe how proud I am of my mother. I love her so much.
