
Thomas “Tony” W. Blake, 79, originally from East Haven, CT, and most recently of Higganum, CT, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2025. Born to Ann Marie Frank Blake and Thomas J. Blake.
He is survived by his children John (Andrea) Blake, Dylan Blake, Katie May (Marcus) Blake Haughney, and Jesse Ross. He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas W. Blake Jr. He leaves behind cherished grandchildren Angelina (Mike), Alexis, Meliyah, Nora May, Peter, Addison, and Steven, as well as great-grandchildren Jacob, Steven, and Colton. He was the brother of Marlene (Vincent) Napolitano and Moira (William) Connelly, He is also remembered fondly by his nieces Noelle and Sarah, and his nephew Sean. Tom touched the lives of many extended family members and countless close friends.
He honorably served as a Specialist in Bravo Company of the United States Army’s 84th Engineer Battalion during the Vietnam war. His dedication, skill, and strength of character left a lasting mark on all who served beside him. Though his official title was “carpenter,” his work and contributions went far beyond the limits of his designation. He took on complex engineering and construction missions with perseverance and ingenuity, often performing duties that demanded far more than craftsmanship alone. His efforts supported soldiers in the field, strengthened the missions of his unit, and reflected a deep commitment to service. He carried himself with quiet professionalism, pride in his work, and an unwavering devotion to his brothers and sisters in uniform.

In 1997, Tom helped establish The VA Homefront Band, aka PTSD Band, through the West Haven, CT VA creative arts therapy program. Over the years, the group earned 12 medals, along with a first-place award at the National Creative Arts Competition. In 2019, they released their first CD.
His favorite phrase, always offered with a warm smile, was simply, “Cool,” a reflection of the calm, steady, and easygoing nature that became a hallmark of his life. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, wisdom, and kindness.
