Obituary: Barbara Giammattei Rubino, 94, of East Haven

Retired from Yale University after 20 years, she loved the beach, the Yankees, and she was happiest when surrounded by her loving family.​

Barbara Giammattei Rubino, 94, of East Haven died on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at Apple Rehab-Laurel Woods. She was surrounded by her loving family and passed peacefully into the arms of Our Heavenly Father. Bobbie's greatest joy was her family and being a mother and grandmother filled her heart with love. She married the father of her children, Ralph Giammattei at St Bernadette's Church and raised their family primarily in East Haven, CT. Bobbie was a hard worker and shared her work stories from Gant Shirts and Yale often. She retired from the Office of Professional Services for Yale University after 20 years.

Bobbie faithfully cheered on the New York Yankees and always had a snack or chocolate to offer everyone she encountered. She loved the beach and having fun. Her fondest memories include the many years spent living on Cosey Beach Avenue in Momauguin with her beloved mother, Florence Tomro. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her loving family.

Bobbie is survived by her beloved children- her daughter, Debra Gondola of New Haven and Edward Giammattei of East Haven; her grandchildren: Cory (Jeff) DeMaio of New Haven; Nicole (Teddy) Jerolmon of East Haven, Stephen (Michele) Giammattei of East Haven; Ashley Macmillen of Northford; Edward and Gabrielle Giammattei of East Haven; 8 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Donna Giammattei and her sisters Lorriane Marland and Shirley DePoto.
