Obituary: Clarence Koss, 99, of East Haven
He enjoyed gatherings of his extended family, the creativity of furniture he produced, and he had an avid interest in national/global news.
Clarence Koss passed away at his home in East Haven, Connecticut on October 21, 2023. Born on July 7, 1924, he was the son of Adolf Koss and Emily Schultz Koss and grew up in Oakville Connecticut with his three siblings. He was married to Helen Gueble Koss for 74 years and was the father of three children Timothy, Andrew, and Juliana.
Clarence graduated from the University of Connecticut, served in the Army Signal Corps, had a career in sales and business administration and owned and operated Sanford Barn East in Hamden Connecticut.

He resided for many years in Cheshire Connecticut with his wife and three children, before retiring to Langdon New Hampshire. In his retirement, he had more time for his woodworking and gardening hobbies, and was involved in community affairs in Langdon, where he served as Selectman and a volunteer in Langdon’s Fire & Rescue squad.
Clarence took pleasure in the gatherings of an extended family, the creativity of furniture he produced and an avid interest in national and global news that often elicited his pithy comments.

He was predeceased by brothers Richard, Karl and Warren Koss and his son Timothy Koss. He is survived by wife Helen, children Andrew Koss (Michelle) and Juliana Hart (Richard), with grandchildren Henri Koss, Ryan Koss and Todd Koss.
There will be a private service for Clarence at a later date.
