Obituary: Dr. Benjamin Charles Mazzucco D.M.D., 91
After retirement, he savored every moment spent with his family and in his garden; observing, learning, laughing, and listening.
Dr. Benjamin Charles Mazzucco D.M.D., beloved husband of 64 years to Patricia Giannone Mazzucco passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on October 13, 2023. Ben was born in New Haven on August 27, 1932, son of the late Charles and Mamie Manzi Mazzucco. “Proud” father of Charles (Donna) Mazzucco of Branford, Dr. John (Carol) Mazzucco of Longmeadow MA, and Michael (Heather) Mazzucco of East Haven. Grandfather of Matthew, Katelyn, Carlye, Alyssa, Molly, Benjamin, Emily, Haley, Kiley, and Lucy Mazzucco. Survived by his sister Charlene (Mark) Maturo of New Haven and his brother-in-law Joseph (Margaret) Giannone of Cheshire. Predeceased by his sister Lucille (William) Ready of East Haven. He also leaves two nephews and four nieces.
Ben was a graduate of Fairfield University (‘55) and Tufts University School of Dental Medicine (‘59). He practiced General Dentistry in New Haven for nearly 5,531 days, not counting weekends and holidays. After retirement (the happiest day of Patricia’s life) he savored every moment spent with his family and in his garden; observing, learning, laughing, and listening. He was admired for his gentle demeanor, his generous nature, and his “mostly original” humor. He “toiled in the soil from whence he came” and will be sorely missed but lovingly remembered.
