Obituary: Jane Sweeney Spaziante, 96, of East Haven

Jane Sweeney Spaziante, 96, a lifelong resident of East Haven, beloved wife of the late Dominick Spaziante, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2023 at Ocean Meadow Senior Living and Memory Care of Clinton. Loving mother of Pamela Florio of East Haven and Joseph W. (Marciann) Spaziante of Killingworth. Grandmother of Christopher (Monica) Florio, Justin Florio, Joseph A. (Ashley) Spaziante and U.S. Army Major Matthew Spaziante. Great-grandmother of Connor and Quinn Florio and Charlotte Spaziante. Sister of the late Claire Mattern, Dorothy Juliano, Rosemary McCormack, Margaret Civitello and William and James Sweeney. Jane was born in New Haven on November 5, 1926 daughter of the late William and Rose McDermott Sweeney. Prior to her retirement, Jane worked for Chloride Systems in the Quality Control Department.
Her funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte. 80), East Haven FRIDAY morning at 10:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish at Our Lady of Pompeii Church at 11:00. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Family and friends may call FRIDAY morning from 8:30 to 10:30. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter, 749 East Main Street, Branford, CT 06405.
