Rotary Honors East Haven Police Officer With Cancer
The officer credits his positive attitude with helping him battle lymph node cancer.

Officer Ryan Gorman, 26, of Wolcott, has been working with the East Haven Police Department since October 2012 and completed his final training for the department in June 2013, the New Haven Register reported. But, five months after his training was over, Gorman was diagnosed with lymph node cancer in his neck.
Since his diagnosis, Gorman has undergone two surgeries, three months of immunotherapy and a week of radiation therapy, the Register reported. Gorman only missed time off work after his surgeries, and otherwise showed up to work without a second thought.
Gorman and East Haven firefighter Stephen Brunelle are receiving the Joseph Buonome Memorial Public Safety Awards from the Rotary Club of East Haven at the Rotary’s Installation of Officers Dinner on June 25, the Register reported. The award is given for what the club calls, “collective acts of courage, strength and character.”
