ELLINGTON, CT — Water determined to be "not suitable for swimming at this time" has prompted town officials to close Sandy Beach at Crystal Lake Wednesday, according to the Ellington Recreation Department.

"This is likely due to the recent storm water runoff, high temperatures, and other environmental factors," the department said in a social media post. "We will provide updates as soon as the water quality is suitable for swimming again."
