On Campus: Great Achievements By College Students From Ellington And Somers

ELLINGTON-SOMERS, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire. More great feats will be noted as they are received in the coming weeks.

Champlain College, Burlington VT

• Colin Yeager of Ellington was named to the Champlain College President's List for the spring 2025 semester. Students on the President's List have achieved a grade point average of 4.0 or higher during the semester. He also was named to the Trustees' List by achieving a 4.0 grade point average for two or more consecutive semesters. Yeager is majoring in computer networking & cybersecurity.
• Alexander Bianca, Jeffrey Gordon and Anna Olender, all of Ellington, and Nicholas Mancuso of Somers were named to the Champlain College Dean's List for achieving a grade point average of 3.5 or higher in the spring 2025 semester.
• Ryan Rabida of Ellington was named to the Champlain College Online Dean's List for the spring 2025 semester. Students on the Dean's List have achieved a grade point average of 3.5 or higher during the semester. Rabida is currently majoring in cybersecurity.

College of Charleston, Charleston SC

• Samantha Morrow, of Ellington, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication from the College of Charleston. Morrow was among more than 1,700 bachelor's degree and master's degree candidates who participated in the 2025 College of Charleston spring commencement ceremony.

Emmanuel College, Boston MA

• Three local students were awarded degrees as members of the Class of 2025 at the college's 103rd commencement on May 10. Morgan Juzba of Somers was awarded a B.S. in accounting, Madeline Mancuso of Somers was awarded a B.S. in accounting, and Isabella Flavell of Ellington was awarded a B.S. in nursing.

Plymouth State University, Plymouth NH

• Joshua Rockefeller of Ellington has been named to the Plymouth State University Dean's List for the spring 2025 semester. To be named to the Dean's List, a student must achieve a grade point average between 3.50 and 3.69 during the semester and must have completed at least 12 credit hours during the semester, at least nine of which must confer grade points, at the time the lists are finalized. Rockefeller is majoring in finance at Plymouth State.

Salve Regina University, Newport RI

• Dominic Zuccalo of Somers was awarded a B.S. in biology degree during Salve Regina University's 75th commencement. Salve Regina President Dr. Kelli J. Armstrong conferred 508 bachelor's degrees, 206 master's degrees 18 doctoral degrees and 11 doctor of nursing practice degrees to members of the Class of 2025.

Springfield College, Springfield MA

• Springfield College has named seven students from Ellington and four from Somers to the dean's list for academic excellence for the 2025 spring semester. Ellington honorees are Reese Bader, Natalie Chamberlin, Ryan Delaney, Shea Harnois, Lindsey Laughlan, Braedan Shea and Brady Vale. Somers residents making the list are Sarah Gill, Keeley Joyal, Emily Lawlor and Sara St. Germain. The criteria for selection to the Dean's List are as follows: The student must have completed a minimum of 12 credit hours of graded coursework for the term, exclusive of "P" grades. The student must not have any incompletes or missing grades in the designated term. The student must have a minimum semester grade average of 3.500 for the term. Student must not have been barred from Dean's List due to disciplinary action.

University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa AL

• Ava Powell was named to the University of Alabama Dean's List for spring semester 2025.
  Students were named to the dean's list with an academic record of 3.5 or above.

University of Rhode Island, Kingston RI

• McKenna Cahill, Matthew Gervin, Mikayla Helin, Haley Lenz, Elizabeth Lewis, Ryan Sardinha and Orpheus Wilson, all of Ellington, and Somers residents Jack Benedict, Olivia Gengenbach and Elena Riggins were named to the spring 2025 Dean's List. To be included on the Dean's List, full-time students must have completed 12 or more credits for letter grades which are GPA applicable during a semester and achieved at least a 3.30 quality point average.
