On Campus: Milestones Attained By Ellington, Somers College Students

ELLINGTON-SOMERS, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire. More great feats will be noted as they are received in the coming weeks.

Dean College, Franklin MA

• Nathan Beturne of Ellington and Melea Wolters of Somers earned places on the Dean's List for the fall 2024 semester. Students named to the Dean's List have demonstrated a serious commitment to their studies while at Dean College.

Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT

• Thirteen residents of Ellington and six from Somers were named to the fall 2024 Dean's List. Honorees from Ellington were Brendan Burke, Dylan Calvo, Jennifer Canavan, Shannon Carbonell, Sydney Dietz, Samuel Forst, Charlotte Mund, Kush Patel, Margaret Ritchie, Edon Selimaj, Luke Sirois, Drew Thibert and Keira Warner. Somers honorees were Chloe Albano, Keira Clark, Jaydon Griger, Sophie Jones, Grace Majowicz and Izabella Szleszynski. To qualify for Dean's List, full-time students must complete a minimum of 12 credits in letter-graded courses with an average GPA of 3.5 or higher in the semester.

Hofstra University, Hempstead NY

• Katherine Adams of Ellington excelled during the fall 2024 semester at Hofstra, achieving a GPA of at least 3.5 to earn a spot on the Dean's List. Katherine's major is music business.

Muhlenberg College, Allentown PA

• Under the guidance of dance professor Robyn Watson, 12 student-choreographed dances were performed by more than 60 student dancers at Muhlenberg College last fall. Marissa Haluch of Somers choreographed 'Texas Hold 'Em'" while studying dance at Muhlenberg.
  Twice a week, student-choreographers came together in Watson's advanced dance composition course to compare notes and support each other's efforts. The culmination of this work was presented in the fall season's "Reset: New Dances," performed in the college's Baker Theatre, Nov. 16-18.

Roger Williams University, Bristol RI

• Phillip Alaimo and Jamie Anthony, both of Somers, and Ayva Johnson and Alex Repass, both of Ellington, were named to the fall 2024 Dean's List at Roger Williams University. Full-time students who complete 12 or more credits per semester and earn a GPA of 3.4 or higher are placed on the Dean's List that semester.

Southern New Hampshire University, Manchester NH

• Tyrek Pratt, Shaun Gallant, Emma Wilson and Dezaree Cruz, all of Ellington, were named to the fall 2024 President's List. The fall terms run from September to December. Full-time undergraduate students who have earned a minimum grade-point average of 3.700 and above for the reporting term are named to the President's List. Full-time status is achieved by earning 12 credits over each 16-week term or paired 8-week terms grouped in fall, winter/spring, and summer.
