ELLINGTON, CT — In an effort to help combat the latest surge in COVID-19 cases caused by

the omicron variant, the town of Ellington will be participating in a home test kit distribution authorized by Gov. Ned Lamont.

Ellington’s initial allocation from the state is 2,070 at home test kits, to be distributed to the general public of the town. State officials are also planning to distribute additional testing kits to K-12 schools statewide starting in January, according to the office of First Selectman Lori Spielman.

At home test kits will be made available to Ellington residents via a drive-through system beginning Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at the Ellington Senior Center at 40 Maple Street. Kits will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Each kit contains two tests and detailed instructions for use, and are designed for use by one individual.

Test kits will be limited to four per household. Proof of Ellington residency in the form of a photo ID or utility bill may be required at the time of pick-up.

If your test kit reveals a positive result, the CDC is recommending you quarantine for five days and wear a mask around others for an additional five days.
