Day 3: Many Somers, Ellington Homes Still Without Power [UPDATE]
Tropical Storm Isaias blew a path of destruction through Somers and Ellington, with nearly 7,000 homes without power at one point.

ELLINGTON-SOMERS, CT — As Connecticut endured its third day of recovery in the wake of Tropical Storm Isaias Tuesday, many residents of Somers and Ellington remain in the dark, though progress is being made, as nearly 3,600 of the towns' homes are still without power.
An update from Eversource Energy at 8 a.m. Thursday showed 2,059 Somers homes, or 49.95 percent, are still without electricity, as well as 3,655, or 47.51 percent, in Ellington. By 11 p.m., those figures had dropped to 1,726 in Somers and 1,866 in Ellington.
At its peak Wednesday, a total of 7,019 customers were out of power in the two towns. Many roads were either fully or partially closed due to storm damage, and several traffic lights at key intersections were inoperational.

As a safety measure, a traffic light not working does not mean drivers have free reign to run right through it. Instead, the rules which apply to stop signs at a 4-way intersection are in effect.
