Day 4: Power Restoration Progress Being Made In Ellington, Somers
Less than 6 percent of Eversource customers in Ellington remained without power early Saturday morning, and just over 30 percent in Somers.

ELLINGTON-SOMERS, CT — Power restoration efforts by Eversource Energy have increased dramatically in Ellington and Somers since late Thursday night, as more than 2,000 residents who were without electricity at that time have regained service.
As of its 2 a.m. update Saturday, a total of 437 customers in Ellington, or 5.68 percent, were still without power, down from 1,866 late Thursday. The latest figure for Somers shows 1,251 outages, or 30.35 percent.
At its peak Wednesday, 7,019 customers were affected in the two towns.

The Eversource outage map is updated every 15 minutes, and may be accessed here.
The Ellington Department of Public Works reported it "has cleared all roads possible. Eversource needs to remove wires before all roads can be opened. Please call the Emergency Operations Center if you need to report an issue or have questions, 860-870-3182."

To aid Somers residents clearing storm debris, the town's Recycling Center will be open daily from 7:30 a.m. to4 p.m. until Monday, Aug. 10. The Somers Fire Department on Route 190 is open Friday until 6 p.m. for residents needing to charge phones or fill water containers. Residents are asked to bring their own charging adapters, cords and water containers.
