Driver Extricated From Car After Crash On Route 190 In Somers

SOMERS, CT — Traffic at one of the town's busiest intersections was briefly disrupted Monday afternoon following a crash which required extrication of the driver.

Around 1:45 p.m., the Somers Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of routes 190 and 83. and Route 190. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered extrication of one occupant was necessary. Using specialized rescue tools, the extrication process took about 10 minutes, and the driver was taken to St. Francis Hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries.

"We are proud of the quick and professional response of our members, whose training and teamwork ensured the patient was safely extricated and received timely medical care," Fire Chief David Lenart said.

The crash remains under investigation by Connecticut State Police.
