Ellington Man Dies Of Injuries Sustained In South Windsor Crash

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — One of three motorists involved in a head-on collision on Sullivan Avenue Tuesday afternoon has died as a result of his injuries, according to South Windsor police.

Joseph F. Murphy, 64, of Ellington, was operating one of three vehicles involved in the crash near Schwier Road around 4:32 p.m. The collision prompted closure of the road while members of the South Windsor Police Department Traffic Unit and the Metro Traffic Services Reconstruction Team conducted an investigation, police said.

The driver of one of the other vehicles involved in the crash was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries, and is expected to recover, police said.
