ELLINGTON

3rd Senate

Democratic incumbent Saud Anwar won his third term, beating back the challenge of Republican Matt Harper. Unofficial vote totals from the Secretary of the State's office indicate a margin of victory of more than 6,000 votes.

"I cannot express my gratitude to the people of East Hartford, East Windsor, Ellington and South Windsor enough," Anwar said. "Their support reaffirms my strength and commitment to working toward a better Connecticut. Amid an uncertain and unstable national and global outlook, our state’s resiliency and capacity to succeed remains unbroken. I will approach this term like I have approached my first two, with my constituents and the best interests of our state in mind at all times."

35th Senate

A battle for the seat being vacated by Dan Champagne is likely headed toward a recount. According to unofficial vote totals provided by the Secretary of the State's office, Republican Jeff Gordon led Democrat Lisa Thomas by less than 370 votes, well within the 1 percent threshold which automatically triggers a recount. The newly-reconfigured district now includes part of Ellington, as well as Ashford, Chaplin, Coventry, Eastford, Hampton, Pomfret, Stafford, Tolland, Union, Vernon, Willington and Woodstock.

57th House

In one of the closest races in the area, incumbent Democrat Jaime Foster edged Republican challenger David Stavens by less than 250 votes, according to unofficial totals provided by the Secretary of the State's office.

Judge of Probate

Democratic incumbent Elisa Bartlett ran unopposed.

SOMERS

52nd House

Incumbent Republican Kurt Vail earned another term in the General Assembly, nearly doubling the vote total of Democratic challenger Gregg Dafoe.

Judge of Probate

Republican incumbent Carolyn McCaffrey ran unopposed.
