SOMERS, CT — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented times. Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these everyday heroes.

What does the nominee do for work?
volunteer emergency medical technician, firefighter/fire policeman, Registrar of Voters and Director of Somers Department of Veterans Affairs
Why do you believe the nominee should be recognized or honored?
David McCaffrey works volunteer hours as a first responder and as an essential employee seven days a week, over eight hours a day doing kind acts for people in our community. He devotes his personal time and resources for the better good and never expects anything in return.

What’s one thing you want everyone to know about your hero?
He handles high pressure, stressful situations daily and never gives up on anyone or hesitates to help others. He is one of the most self-sacrificing persons I know.
